Congratulations to Troop 50726 for earning their silver award, which is the highest award they can receive as Cadettes!! They have worked hard to pick a community service project working with the elderly to help animals at a local shelter. The girls recognized the need for companionship with the elderly in nursing homes and was able to build off of that realization to not only give them companionship but also a sense of purpose by working together to help animals in need. The girls coined their program “Adopt a Grandparent,” where they visit a local nursing home and make blankets to give to animals in the shelter. While making the blankets the girls get a chance to bond and receive infinite wisdom from the elderly women and men who attend. The girls enjoy their time so much that they are planning on going on outings with the residents and will continue visiting the nursing home in the years to come.
